The Grand View men's and women's track & field teams opened their indoor season by hosting the Viking Throws Fest on Friday, Dec. 8. Grand View competed against throwers from Mount Mercy and St. Ambrose.

The Vikings won three events, hit three national qualifying marks, set a school record, and reached a personal best.

Highlighting the results for the men was a first place finish in the shot put by senior Tyler Wells. Wells won with an NAIA "B" Standard throw of 15.45m (50' 8 ¼"). Junior Cy Williams was third with a toss of 13.51m (44'4"). Williams was also the winner in the men's weight throw with a distance of 16.10m (52'10")
