The Viking men's track & field team topped the 12-team field at the Grinnell Invitational on Saturday. Grand View scored 102 team points, won four events, hit three national qualifying marks and set two school records at Grinnell.

Senior Keonte White (Grand Prairie, Texas) bested his own school record set in the 200m dash just three weeks ago with a winning performance of 22.21, an NAIA automatic qualifying time. Senior Kenny Simmons (St. Louis, Mo.) also set a new school record in the triple jump, winning the event with a distance of 14.42m, a jump that bettered his own school record of 14.16m set at last year's NAIA Championships and was also an NAIA 'A' national qualifying mark.

The 4x400m relay team of sophomore Clay Cory (Elkhart, Iowa), junior Seth Harjes (Polk City, Iowa), White, and sophomore Bryon Christensen (Johnston, Iowa) won with a time of 3:26.00.

Freshman Leeshad O'Neal (Wharton, Texas) had a pair of third place finishes in the 200m (22.45, also better than White's previous school record of 22.47) and the 400m (52.10).  
 
The Viking throwers had four top-three finishes including sophomore Nate Johnston's (Carroll, Iowa) NAIA 'B' winning toss in the weight throw of 17.33m. Junior Hunter Donovan  (Pleasant Hill, Iowa) was runner-up to Johnston in the weight throw with a mark of 16.23m and junior Cameron Paddock (Monticello, Iowa) took third with a toss of 15.45m.  Paddock was also runner-up in the shot put with a distance of 14.32m.
