The Viking track & field teams competed over the weekend at the ISU Open in Ames. It was a successful outing for the Viking women who produced one national qualifying mark, a personal best, and a conference-leading time at the Open.

Sophomore Val Veiock (West Des Moines, Iowa) continued her consistent performances in the shot put. Veiock's throw of 12.97 (42' 6 ¾"), was an NAIA ‘B' standard mark; the second time she has hit a national qualifying standard this season. She placed seventh overall in the shot put in the field of 50 loaded with NCAA Div I competitors.
