[Men's Cross Country] Viking Men Tie for Third at Mount MercyPublished by
The Grand View men's cross country team didn't waste any time shaking up the conference pre-season rankings in their season opener on Friday night. Grand View was picked fourth in the MCC pre-season poll, but they went in and knocked off #3 William Penn and tied top ranked (RV) Mount Mercy at the Mustang Gallop in Cedar Rapids. The Vikings were led by freshman JR Snyder (Altoona, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) who placed 17th overall. Grand View's top five finishers ran a solid pack with a spread of just 1 minute and 17 seconds. Iowa Central won the team title with just 27 pts., NIACC was 2nd with 66 pts., followed by Grand View and Mount Mercy tied for 3rd with 107 pts. The Vikings will be back in action next Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Central College Invitational in Pella, Iowa.
